The 9 tracks on Toronto trio Sauna’s debut album Dose Yourself are wound around new wave, modern disco, and peppy retro synth-rock. It’s a far cry from the post-punk churn of frontman Michael le Riche’s band Fake Palms; ditto for drummer Braeden Craig’s noisy punk with Greys, and bassist Zach Bines’ work with Toronto alt-darlings, Weaves. Sauna is something new and instinctual, largely inspired by synthesizers and old disco.
