Margie Johnson

Margie Johnson first learned to spin poi at the Woodford Folk Festival in Australia in 2002. Since then, she has enjoyed sharing her love of poi with fellow Hillsiders. Poi spinning is a rhythmic dance that involves the swinging of flags, ribbons, poi balls, or flames. You can easily make your own set by putting tennis balls into a pair of long socks. Though it won’t be the same without the live Hillside beat in the background, Margie hopes you can get outside to discover the Joy of Poi!
