Lisa Muswagon

Lisa Muswagon is a Nakoda Cree member of the Pimicikamak Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba. She is a mother of 5 and currently resides in Winnipeg, MB with her husband. Her late grandfather told legends of Northern Manitoba and shared culture in the education systems. Her father gifted her with a handdrum and has been performing since then. Lisa released the ten-story track titled album Buffalo and Rabbits which are songs about the journey of Wapos which means Rabbit in Cree. Wapos is seeking the story of the round dance that was lost long ago to bring back to the homelands to learn. The album earned two nominations in 2017 for Best New Artist at the Indigenous Music Awards and Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. She currently collaborates her music in different genres and formed the group The Resilience with her husband, who is hip hop artist Hellnback.
