Making Your Mark: An abstract painting using found objects

Making your Mark – Creating a modern abstract painting using anything you can find at home. Forks, knives, cardboard, bubble wrap, and the list goes on! What do you think has an interesting texture and what would make an interesting mark?

Jessica Robbins is a painter, illustrator, and high school art teacher who lives in Toronto. Jessica has explored a wide range of mediums while completing her BA at the University of Guelph’s School of Fine Art and Music and as a classroom teacher. Her work has allowed her to contribute to arts programming throughout the GTA including Toronto’s Gardiner Museum and several high schools throughout the Peel Region. Jessica likes to experiment with different tools besides paint brushes to make her own abstract paintings and is excited to share this with the Hillside Community in Guelph this year! All her work can be viewed on Instagram at @jessicaerinartt and a series of her portraits is currently on display at Twist Gallery in Toronto for the summer.
