The youth showcase has been an important feature of Hillside’s summer and winter festivals for many years. This partnership with JamSchool has allowed many young musicians to perform before a large and appreciative audience, to work with festival staff and volunteers, learn about backstage protocols with technical production and to experience why having a few extra guitar strings and picks on hand is always a good idea.
Friday, July 17 performers include: Mean Girls, The Detour and Six of One.
Saturday, July 18 performers include: Klara Van Der Zalm, Smiling Politely and the JamSchool House Band featuring singers, Aila Price, Elena Neves and Isla Stutman.
JamSchool is a performance-based music education centre with two locations in Guelph, Ontario, offering private music instruction and contemporary band classes, both in-person and online. Their focus is on creating an environment to learn and interact with other students through regularly scheduled performances, allowing students to take the stage with their peers. They believe that live performance is key to developing a life-long love of music. Whether you are six or sixty years young, they have a program for you.
