Cadence Weapon is Edmonton-born, Toronto-based rapper, producer and writer Rollie Pemberton. The former Edmonton poet laureate has released four albums, including the 2021 Polaris Prize-winning Parallel World, which grapples with the impacts of technology, gentrification and the Black experience. His first book, Bedroom Rapper – which examines the politics of resistance, the roots of hip-hop and his own experience in the music industry – was published by McClelland & Stewart this spring.
