Petite Noir is the architect of Noirwave – a musical and cultural movement that draws creative energy from punk aesthetics and the fragmented identity of today’s African diaspora. The Congolese artist was born in Belgium, and raised in South Africa. His music melds indie, metal, alt-r&b and music from his native country and tribe. Previously championed by the likes of Solange, Dev Hynes, Foals, Young Fathers, Miguel, and a collaborator with Danny Brown, Yasiin Bey, Mr Hudson, and Saul Williams, Petite Noir followed up his pioneering 2018 “visual album” La Maison Noir / The Black House with his second album, MotherFather released April 14, 2023.
