Hillside Festival Brings Music to Local Food Fest!
Which mushrooms are edible? How do you make cider? What about sauerkraut and kim-chi?
On Sunday, June 24th, 2018 from 11am to 4pm, eat and learn at the Local Food Fest! Taste local food, meet the local farmers who grow it, and learn how to prepare, keep, forage, stuff, pick, and savour all manner of delicious edibles! This event was the WINNER of Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance's 2015 "Event of the Year"! It’s set in the beautiful grounds of Ignatius Jesuit Centre, and it offers food booths (samosas! lemonade! strawberries!) with samples, hands-on workshops and cooking demos, children’s and family activities, such as butter-making, sack races, tractor rides, and a butter-tart-eating contest.
There’s also live music! With our friends at Taste Real, Hillside is presenting Missy Bauman, Chad Price, Ajay Mehmi, who will join Madison Galloway as well as Greg Denton and the Probable Cause Trio at the event.
Read about these fabulous musicians below!
Creating a world of her own between alternative and folk, Rrampt describes Missy Bauman's music as “…an exploration of the etheral. This is the work of a truly talented artist; a smart songwriter, and an interesting one.”
Since 2012, Chad Price has been carefully honing his craft on stages throughout Canada earning a reputation as an 'artist to watch'. Price has shared the stage with music industry heavy-hitters Lights, Walk Off The Earth, Tyler Shaw, Justin Nozuka, and Jocelyn Alice and has also played festivals headlined by the likes of Ben Harper, The Strumbellas, Weezer, and Magic!. He is a 2015 Jack Richardson Music Award nominee for Best Songwriter, co-host of the 2018 Jack Richardson London Music Awards, and a featured artist on the inaugural season of CTV/Bell Media's hit show "The Launch".
As a solo multi-instrumentalist, composer and visual artist based out of Cambridge, Ontario, his current project ‘Thou Shalt’ is a kaleidoscopic breath of myriad influences that resonate the likened frames of psych-wave, synth-pop and bitter folk reveries. ‘Thou Shalt’ communicates shyly through spectral, cinematic compositions that reveal intuitive processes of experimentation.
