Hillside Inside 2019
February 8 - 10
Laurel Tubman is a highly sought-after Toronto talent, whose genre-bending musicality has made her an up-and-coming name in the city. Since training in opera at Wilfrid Laurier University, she has gone on to explore her passion for spirituals, jazz, soul and pop as both a solo and ensemble artist. She is a staple at Jazz Night at Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto, and has performed at the Sony Centre, Roy Thompson Hall, Koerner Hall, and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. She regularly performs with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale – Canada’s first professional choral group dedicated to Afro-centric music, and her four-piece jazz quartet Hey Love (heylove.ca). Today, she joins friends Karen Weigold, Anthony Fauré and Andrew Adridge to present a collection of travelling songs and other spirituals as a part of Hillside Inside’s Sound of Light.
