Hillside Inside 2014
February 7 - 9
Timber Timbre’s music is singular and arresting. The brainchild of Taylor Kirk – the commanding persona at the fore of Timber timbre’s spacious weighted sound – evokes extraordinary beauty from the striking unusual. The elements are deceptively simple, the effect foreign and familiar. Kirk’s timeless voice, crooned and quavered over stark orchestration, combines in haunting resonance with heartrending compositions. Timber Timbre blends spirits of rustic folk and plaintive soul through oblique, experimental passages: a sound startling new fangled but steeped in decades of doowop, classicism, and pop essence. Kirk unfolds the story at intoxicatingly languid pace, with otherworldly, instrumentation played in evocative low register. Praised for the reverberant hollowgrey tones of the folksy Timber Timbre (2009), and the angular haunt of Creep on Creepin’ On (2011), Timber Timbre will return with a new sonic exploration in Spring 2014.
