Hillside Inside 2018
February 10 – 11
Girls & Guitars 2018
There are three different streams of Girls & Guitars—school workshops, a songwriting course, and Hillside Inside showcases—and though all have slightly different approaches, they are all designed with the same idea of encouraging and promoting the power of female creativity.
This Hillside Inside tradition features singer-songwriters performing in storefronts in the downtown core between 10:00 am and 2:30pm in progressive party fashion. Every half hour a different venue showcases a different performer. The venues are all somewhat unusual—a bicycle store, a music shop, boutiques. The Quebec Street shows are part of a new initiative we are piloting, Queers on Quebec Street, which will complement Girls & Guitars and keep the progressive party going into the afternoon.
These performers are at different stages of their careers, some full-time professionals and some fairly new to the scene. All share a passion for performance, for music, and for creative expression--which we share with them.
